If you have something in your hands, something that if you let it, it’ll fly away, do you let go? You can’t look at it, but if you could, you’d cut through your hands to see it..It’s the thing most important to you, but you have to keep it safe. Safe from the outside. It loves you. All around you is fire, evil. You protect it. Yet it still wants to fly away. So you let it, and it does. You watch it, always at an arm’s reach, always tantalizingly mocking you. Saying that this is what it really wanted. Is it? You don’t know. In an unbelievable moment, it comes back to you,. resting in your palm with the lightest touch. This touch scares it, and it flees. As it flies in the sunset, you wonder if it’s coming back. You wonder if it will ever let you hold it again. You wonder if maybe…even if your heart is melting like lava out of your chest, if it was the right thing to do. Was letting go your only option? But then again, what were you but a shield? Nothing more. She never loved you. At least that’s the argument. But you can love nothing else.
